As the year winds down, I find myself pausing to look back, not just at the milestones,
but at the choices and decisions that have brought me here. This year has been one of
the most remarkable changes, of stepping into new roles, new challenges, and
ultimately, new versions of myself.
I went back to school, threw myself into not only three plays, but truly pushed myself to
balance work, play, and everything in between. It hasn’t always been easy. There were
moments when I felt my confidence waver, when the loss of professional connections
and the shift in personal relationships reminded me of the cost of putting myself first.
Journal Prompt: What changes did I experience this year that challenged me the
most? How did I respond to them, and what did I learn about myself in the process?
Yet, through all of it, I’ve learned what impact and influence truly mean—how the
choices I make ripple beyond myself and how honouring my own path can create space
for growth, I hadn’t imagined. This year, I discovered my limits, yes, but I also found my
resilience, my joy, and my excitement for what’s ahead.
Journal Prompt: In what ways have my choices influenced the lives of others this
year? How has honouring my own path created opportunities for growth?
I’m ending this year not exhausted or relieved, but energized—ready to step into the
next chapter with courage, curiosity, and a deeper understanding of who I am
becoming. Life has given me so much, even as it has asked for a lot in return. And as I
look forward, I am both scared and thrilled to continue carving out the life I want,
embracing every challenge, lesson, and moment along the way.
Journal Prompt: What do I hope to carry forward into the new year? What am I willing
to release to make space for growth and joy?
And as I reflect, I realize that even I can learn from looking into my own reflection; re-
discovering my smile, my drive, my compassion, and my grace. I can honour the
decisions I have made this year, forgive myself where needed, and celebrate the
courage it takes to choose the path ahead. Through this reflection, I step into the new
year with a full heart and an open mind, ready to continue becoming more of who
Barbara is meant to be.
